Richard Matheson came to the world of literature with this undoubtedly influential and nothing short of brilliant piece. I read it a year ago and it creeps in the back of my mind to this day, coming out along the moon.
I Am Legend is one of the scariest novellas I've ever read. Almost all post-apocalyptic, pandemic stories owe lots to this book. I'm sure you've heard of the movie adaptation with the wonderful Will Smith as the leading role.
Deeply unsettling, moving and intense, this book deserves everyone's late-night attention.
(And the movie, too!)
