The young Jew Josiah Herzenstein had to change her name to Josephine and flee her native Poland to Melbourne, Australia. Out of nowhere, she started a small cosmetics business, later turning it into a real beauty empire. Canadian immigrant Constance Gardiner was the first to engage in marketing strategies in the cosmetics world and hired dark-skinned CiCi Lopez, who will go down in history as the creator of a hair straightener. Every step of Constance and Josephine gradually brings them closer to each other. But this is not about partnership. Against the backdrop of creating new lines of cosmetics and marketing innovations, McCarthyism, turbulent changes in the big world and secret cultures of banned clubs, compliments and envy, these two women will compete for the title of queen of cosmetics.
