First Chinese book I read, fascinating and epic, covering vast spaces and corners of the universe, great reading, the length is not a problem. The feeling I get from the book is quite oldschool. The only problem I had with the book, really, were those Chinese names.. Still try it - if you do not read any other Chinese book in your life, try at least this one! The story starts during the great cultural revolution in China in the fifties and it literally takes you till the end of time!
