IT was a few months ago when I embarked on this colossal journey of a book and even though time is the death of memories, vivid and grotesque images still linger in the back of my mind, scaring me to death when I try to sleep. And I don't get scared easily. That's not to say this book is just scary. IT contains great humor as well, some a bit absurd, particularly because 50% of IT is told from the kids' POV.

IT is the kind of story only King could write; humorous, spooky, heart-breaking but also heart-warming with unexpected, but well foreshadowed, twists. IT's cliffhangers are genuienly mind-boggling and will leave you wanting to devour 100 more pages just to see what's gonna happen.

All the characters in this book felt like real, fully fleshed out people with their own respective strengths and weaknesses.

While this is not the best *first* Stephen King book to read, it is definitely one of - if not the - most enjoyable one and definitely his Magnum Opus.

Knihu It jsem dostala jako dárek, protože jsem fanoušek filmových hororů a v nedávné době jsem se dala i na ty knižní. A málokterá hororová kniha se těší takovému věhlasu. Po přečtení musím říci, že je oprávněný. Bála jsem se, že mi bude kniha vlivem počtu stránek připadat zdlouhavá, ale až na jednu dost podivnou a nevhodnou scénu bych z knihy nic nemazala. Bylo to skvělé, napínavé a místy jsem měla opravdu husí kůži!

To je beze sporu největším a nejslavnějším hororovým dílem mistra strachu, amerického spisovatele Stephena Kinga. Ten za svou spisovatelskou kariéru napsal bezpočet knih, ale TO je zkrátka něco výjimečného. Práce se strachem je dokonalá a co příběhu přidává na čtenosti je i skupina sympatických hrdinů, se kterými se setkáváme jako s dětmi i jako s dospělými. To není zrovna krátká kniha, ale čte se jedním dechem a bezesné noci jsou naprostou garancí.

Jedno z nejznámějších děl Stepnena Kinga. To je neuvěřitelna bichle - a neuvěřitelne dobře napsaná. A za neuvěřitelnou cenu! Nicméně jde o paperback, což je při počtu stránek nad tisíc opravdu dost nepraktické. Ale zas super cenově dostupné ;-)
Desive vyprávění, úžasný slohový styl, King umí vykreslit postavy tak živé, že se s nimi snadno identifikujete. A o to víc cítíte, co se jim děje. Mrazivá kniha!

Why yes, I did just complete my longest read to date. I simultaneously feel relieved and accomplished, drained and fulfilled. There are few authors who can successfully deliver such conflicting feelings, which is why he's one of the most well known names in the fiction world. I feel as if I could write an entire book about this tender and terrifying "coming of age" tale, but I also feel as if all the umph has left my body for the moment. Definitely my favorite King novel that I've read so far and I hope to revisit this review after a time of processing and reflection to add more thoughts

Obvykle nečtu horory, ale pár knížek Stephena Kinga jsem si přece jen přečetla. A IT patří rozhodně k autorovým více povedeném knihám. Sice se mi do hlavy vypsala hlavne délka knihy a zajímavé skoky mezi kapitoly a to víc než samotný hororový obsah - např. na klauna si ani moc nepamatuji. Ale to, že jsem knihu dočetla, je u mě už jasný plus pro tuto knihu. Tak chybí už jen se podívat na nový film :-)

* I have to say - it was my first and maybe the last book written by american famous horror author Mr. Stephen King
* I saw a lot of the reviews on the internet. Most of the reviews were positive. That was the reason I decided to read the book. But for me was the story too slow. In the book there are more that thousand pages and I was able to read 131 pages only.
* the books from Mr Stephen King are not for me. Sorry! :-/
