So right after writing my review on the first book in this series, The Dry, I felt compelled to write a review on the continuation of this wonderful story. This time Jane Harper travels from Kiewarra to the equally hostile atmospheric environment of the Giralong Rangers. What I think the sequel does better than its predecessor are its characters, they much more real and the reader feels very attached to either single one of them. Where I think this book falters, however, is the language. In comparison to the first book, the language can feel a bit strenuous to read sometimes even to the point where it rips you away from the atmosphere. It can feel like somewhat of an info-dump. A brilliant read nonetheless with its slight weaknesses but otherwise great strenghts. I haven't read the third book, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will!
