Walker's "Why we sleep" is definitely one of the must-read books! Fascinating and engaging! Introducing to everyone how important is to sleep well and enough and how serious may be the impact of lack of sleep on our physical and mental health leading to many health problems (i.e. difficulties in remembering and perceiving things, mood swings, depressions, weight gain...) I do recommend this publication to everyone!

A great book that is definitely worth reading. It will definitely make you think about why we are sleeping, that it is actually important and we should not underestimate it. Lack of sleep contributes to a wide range of diseases of civilization, from diabetes, to depression, cardiovascular disease to overweight (and probably many others that I forgot). So it's definitely worth sleeping at least the recommended seven hours and enjoying the next day (and a long healthy life).

Very great book ! Times Higher EducationSleep is one of the most important aspects of our life, health and longevity and yet it is increasingly neglected in twenty-first-century society, with devastating consequences: every major disease in the developed world - Alzheimer's, cancer, obesity, diabetes - has very strong causal links to deficient sleep.Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why its absence is so damaging to our health.

Excellent book ! Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive. Now, in this book, the first of its kind written by a scientific expert, Professor Matthew Walker explores twenty years of cutting-edge research to solve the mystery of why sleep matters. Looking at creatures from across the animal kingdom as well as major human studies.
